SYSC Academy- 2026-27 Details & Tryout Information

We are excited to officially introduce the Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club Academy — designed to provide our more dedicated teams and players with a more competitive and challenging environment.

 

The Academy program has been carefully designed to raise the standard of training and competition within our club, while staying true to the core values of Scarsdale Youth Soccer Club: development, commitment, and love for the game.

 

We intend to begin the Academy program with the 2026-27 season and will initially launch this with our younger age groups of U8, U9 and U10. 

 

Please see the eligible age ranges below for these age groups in the fall.

 

U8- Born August 1st, 2018- July 31st, 2019

U9- Born August 1st, 2017- July 31st, 2018

U10- Born August 1st, 2016- July 31st, 2017

 

Our team structure for the U9 & U10 age groups will now look as follows;

 

- SYSC Academy Team

- SYSC Travel 'A' team

- SYSC Travel 'B' team

 

Depending how many players we get per age group, this can then continue with additional teams per age group.

 

* For the U8 age group, we'll have one Academy team, formed via tryouts, with the other teams then being school based teams. 

 

Academy Structure:

 

-Three Training Sessions Per Week:

Academy teams will train up to three days per week in a structured environment focused on technical mastery, tactical awareness, speed of play, and positional understanding. Each session is designed to challenge players and maximize long-term growth.

 

-Built-In Winter Program:

The Academy includes a comprehensive winter training program to ensure players continue improving year-round — maintaining fitness, refining technique, and building tactical intelligence.

 

- Expanded Tournament Schedule:

Academy teams will participate in additional high-level tournaments, exposing players to stronger competition and diverse playing styles. These events are critical for testing growth and building resilience.

 

- EDP League Competition:

Academy teams will compete in the Elite Development Program (EDP) League, providing a more challenging competitive platform that pushes players to perform at higher standards week after week. This league will still be within range for travel and can have Saturday or Sunday games.

 

- Tryout process:

Players will be assessed for the Academy teams via tryouts. If you already play for another EDP team and do NOT wish to play with SYSC Academy, you can still try out for our travel 'A' team. Our travel teams will all play WYSL so you'll be eligible for these.
